SHR (Super Hair Removal) uses rapid low-fluence sub-pulses at up to 10 Hz with an in-motion gliding technique. Traditional IPL uses single high-fluence pulses with a stamping motion. SHR is less painful, safer for darker skin, and faster for large areas — the handpiece glides continuously over the skin instead of lifting and repositioning between each pulse.
Is SHR really painless?
Most patients describe SHR as a warm, tingling sensation — significantly more comfortable than traditional IPL or laser. The low-fluence approach combined with sapphire contact cooling (0-5°C) keeps the epidermis cool while gradually heating the follicle. No numbing cream required for most patients.
Can SHR treat dark or tanned skin?
Yes — this is one of SHRs key advantages. The low-fluence multi-pulse approach delivers energy gradually, allowing the epidermis (which also contains melanin) to dissipate heat between sub-pulses. SHR is routinely used on Fitzpatrick types IV and V. For type VI, we recommend a test patch first.
How many sessions are needed for hair removal?
6-8 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart for most body areas. Facial hair may require 8-10 sessions due to hormonal influences. Maintenance sessions every 6-12 months help sustain results. Results vary based on hair color, thickness, and hormonal factors.
What is the lamp lifespan and replacement cost?
